The foodgrains production is likely to cross 264 million tonnes in 2013-14 in the country. It will be the highest ever production of food grains in the country. The third Advance Estimates released by the Government says that compared to 257.13 million tonnes food grains produced last year, it is expected to be 264.38 million tonnes this year. In the 2nd Advance Estimates released in February this year, the total foodgrain production was pegged at 263.2 million tonnes. Rice production is expected at record 106.29 million tonnes and wheat production is expected to reach 95.85 million tonnes, again a record.
