Food Security Bill to be tabled in Parliament tomorrow

The government will table the National Food Security Bill in Parliament on Thursday. This was stated by Food Minister K V Thomas in New Delhi on Wednesday. The Bill has already been cleared by the Union Cabinet.

In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, the Food Minister K.V. Thomas said, the subsidised food scheme will cover 75 per cent of rural population and 50 per cent in urban areas. This will cover 46 per cent of priority sector in the rural areas and 28 per cent in the urban areas.
