National Food security bill is likely to be introduced in the Winter session of Parliament. This was disclosed by the Food and Public Distribution Minister K V Thomas while talking to reporters outside the Parliament today. Prof. Thomas said that the cabinet is likely to take up the bill by second week of next month. He said that all the state governments have already submitted their replies on the draft bill and the Food and Public Distribution ministry is in discussion with the various departments of the centre government.
Meanwhile, Government has decided to release over 23 lakh tones of rice and wheat under Public Distribution System. Out of this 16.08 lakh tones are for Below Poverty Line people and the remaining for the above poverty line.
