Food Safety and Standard Act will be operational in next three months. Replying supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday the Health Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the effective implementation of the Act will go a long way in checking adulteration in food items. <br/> <br/>He said that the Act provides for punishment of six months to life imprisonment. The members who asked a number of questions on adulteration issue demanded a full fledged issue on the subject. <br/> <br/>He said over seven percent adulteration has been found in food items on an average. It is based on samples collected in last five years. Mr. Azad made it clear that the Act will be implemented by the Health Ministry.<br/>
