Food production will be robust in 2017-18: Radha Mohan Singh

Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has said that the food production will be robust in 2017-18. Inaugurating the National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said, the country has achieved self sufficiency in pulses and his Ministry is committed to increase oil seeds production by increasing oil palm cultivation. <br/><br/>The Minister said, by March next year, all farm lands will get electricity supply. He said, there is need to interfere in the Mandis all over the country so that farmers are not compelled to sell their crops at below market rates. The Minister said, soil Health Card has helped in increasing the productivity of farm produce and reduced the cost of production. <br/><br/>He said, Soil Health Card recommends ways to improve the soil quality, appropriate dosage of nutrients for improving soil health and its fertility and analyse the nutrient level. He also said, overall crop production in the country has increased by 10 to 12 percent. During the two days conference, discussion will be held on the strategies and roadmap with state governments for the upcoming Rabi season.
