Food prices help ease October retail inflation to 4.20%

Easing food and fuel prices helped bringing down retail inflation to a 14-month low of 4.2 per cent in October this year while overall retail food inflation dropped to 3.32 per cent in October. Consumer Price Index based inflation had stood at 4.39 per cent in September this year, and 5 per cent in October last year. Overall retail food inflation dropped to 3.32 per cent in October. Retail inflation in the vegetables category stood at minus 5.74 per cent in October, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation. And retail inflation in pulses inflation dropped sharply to just 4.11 per cent.
