Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today asked states to expedite the process of reforms in Public Distribution System, PDS. He was speaking at the Conference of State Food Ministers and Food Secretaries on PDS reforms and cashless environment in New Delhi. <br/><br/>Mr Paswan praised the Andhra Pradesh for successfully implementing digital payments using existing biometric terminals in twenty one thousand select Fair Price Shops through Aadhar Enabled Payment System. <br/><br/>The Minister took stock of the progress made by the states in implementing reforms in PDS and cashless payments. He also sought to know the various problems faced by the states in bringing the reforms. <br/><br/>He rooted for a cashless environment to speed up implementation of PDS reforms so that no beneficiary is denied his entitlement. The various modes of cashless transactions include Aadhar Enabled Payment System, Card Based Payment, Unified Payment Interface and e- Wallet.
