Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee says, food inflation is a matter of great concern for India. He said in Navi Mumbai that the growing demand for food items such as eggs, meat, vegetables, and milk is responsible for the rising rate of inflation.

Mr Mukherjee said, a rapid rise in inflation over the last two months has caused the prices of basic necessities to shoot up. He also said that the union government will help increase the production and supply of milk within the country.
