Food inflation declined to a one-and-a-half month low of 7.78 per cent for the week ended June 18, as vegetables and pulses became cheaper. Food inflation, as measured by the Wholesale Price Index, had stood at 9.13 per cent during the previous week, and at over 20 per cent during the comparable period last year.Vegetables became cheaper by more than 10 per cent, year-on-year, according to data released by the government, today. Prices of pulses fell 9.5 per cent, while potatoes became 2.39 per cent cheaper. Inflation in overall primary articles stood at 11.84 per cent, down from 12.62 per cent in the previous week. Inflation of non-food primary items stood at 17.91 per cent, down from 18.43 per cent in the previous week.
