Food inflation declined to 18.22 per cent for the week ended December 26.The fall in food inflation is despite the prices of potato and pulses remaining high. Potato remained expensive rising as much as 110 per cent over the last year, followed by pulses whose prices jumped by 42.21 per cent. Vegetables turned expensive by 30.97 per cent. Onion prices rose by 40.07 per cent on yearly basis. However, prices of fish-marine and barley rose by 3 per cent each, while that of moong and masur rose by 1 per cent each over the previous week.
