Food inflation coming down: Govt.

The Government on Tuesday said the food inflation has been coming down with prices of pulses and vegetables declining and rates of other edible items gradually stabilising.Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar told reporters on the sidelines of two-day SAARC Workshop on Government Performance Management in New Delhi that pulses prices have come down, wheat and rice prices are stable, edible oil prices are stable, vegetable prices have come down.For the week ended March 13, food inflation fell to its lowest in four months at 16.22 per cent, as the pace of price rise for many food items like potatoes slowed and other vegetables such as onions became cheaper.
