The Union Cabinet will take up the National Food Security bill for approval on Monday. The bill aims at ensuring food for every citizen of the country.

Food and Public Distribution Minister K.V. Thomas said the government is committed to introduce the Bill in the present winter session of Parliament itself.

He said the government has evolved consensus on various provisions of the bill.

It has held rigorous consultations with all the stake holders, including the state governments to settle various contentious issues.
