Dense fog across North India continued to hamper train services with about 80 trains arriving late by several hours in New Delhi on Monday. A Northern Railway spokesperson said, trains to the Eastern states were especially affected due to the foggy conditions. Meanwhile, Railways also brought into force a change in the signaling system in North Central Railway between Delhi and Kanpur as an extra precautionary step during poor visibility. The change in the signaling system — from automatic to semi-automatic — will ensure that only two trains are allowed to run between two stations at a time. The Gujjar agitation further worsened the train schedule with trains like Bandra-Nizamuddin Garib Rath Express and Indore-Nizamuddin intercity express reported running late by 40 hours and 35 hours behind schedule. While the Jansadharan Express between Rajendra Nagar (Patna) and Anand Vihar, Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity and Unchahar Express between Chandigarh and Allahabad were cancelled due to fog, the Shatabdi Express between New Delhi and Ajmer was cancelled due to the agitation.
