The Special CBI Court of Judge Shivpal Singh at Ranchi will take up the arguments on quantum of sentencing for RJD Chief Lalu Prasad and 11 others today. The arguments of defense and prosecutions for four other convicts, whose names begin with letters starting from A to K, were completed yesterday. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that while the defense lawyers for convicts pleaded for lighter sentencing citing various grounds, Counsel for the CBI Rakesh Kumar, contested that and pleaded tougher sentencing. The CBI lawyer arguments was that the conviction is under sections 420, 460, 477 A and 120-B of the IPC and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. <br/><br/><br/>Judge Shivpal Singh asked CBI lawyer few questions on theories of punishment. The Order on quantum of sentencing would be pronounced after arguments for all the 16 convicts is completed. Meanwhile in other matter related to RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, in ongoing fodder scams RC-47-A/96, which is related to illegal withdrawal from Doranda Treasury of Ranchi, will also be taken up today in another Special CBI Court of Pradeep Kumar at Ranchi.
