Fodder scam: Lalu, Mishra appear in CBI court in Patna

RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra today appeared in a special CBI court in Patna following its direction in connection with a multi-crore rupee fodder scam case.<br/><br/>In pursuance of the order of Special CBI court judge Devraj Tripathi for personal appearance of all the 31 accused, Lalu Prasad, Jagannath Mishra and others including some IAS<br/>officers were present in the court. <br/><br/>Prasad's lawyer Chitranjan Sinha apprised the court of the presence of his client. After a brief session in the jam-packed Special CBI court, the judge fixed 10th of this month as next date for hearing of the case relating to withdrawal of Rs 46 lakh illegally from treasuries in Bhagalpur and Banka by the Animal Husbandry department between 1994 to 1996. The RJD chief and Mishra are currently on bail after conviction in the case.

Fodder scam: Lalu, Mishra appear in CBI court in Patna

RJD President Lalu Prasad and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, accused in the multi- crore fodder scam appeared before a CBI court in Patna today. The CBI Judge Devraj Tripathi had ordered them and other accused to be present before the court. <br/><br/>The case relates to fraudulent withdrawal of 46 lakh rupees from treasuries in Bhagalpur and Banka districts by the Animal Husbandry department between 1994 and 1996. CBI had filed charge-sheet against 44 persons in the case in April 2003. Trial against 33 persons is undergoing. <br/><br/>In another case of the fodder scam Lalu Prasad and Jagannath Mishra served jail term in Ranchi but are currently on bail. This scam relates to withdrawal of around 1000 crore rupees by Animal Husbandry Department from various districts of the state when Lalu prasad was Chief Minister from 1990 to 1997.
