A special CBI court in Ranchi is likely to pronounce today, the quantum of sentence to Rashtriya Janta Dal supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam case. The court will hear the arguments and communicate the sentences to Lalu and 36 others, including former Chief Minister of Bihar Jaganath Mishra and JDU MP from Jehanabad, Jagadish Sharma, through video conferencing. The CBI lawyer told our Ranchi correspondent that today's sentencing is likely to be more than 3 years. Lalu Yadav’s son Tejashwi said that the judgement will be challenged in the High Court.
Lalu Yadav is presently lodged in the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi. He was convicted by the Special CBI Court on Monday, along with 44 others. 8 of them were sentenced on Monday itself, ranging from imprisonment of 1 to 3 years and fine ranging from 50,000 to 50 lakh rupees.
