In the flood-hit Tamil Nadu, the focus has shifted from relief measures to rehabilitation as rain has subsided and normalcy returned. The state chief minister J.Jayalalithaa has sought Rs 5750 crore as special assistance from the Centre to relocate over 50,000 families living along water bodies in Chennai and to reconstruct an equal number of hutments in the city and its suburbs which faced severe damages due to the recent flood. <br/><br/>In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday, She has said the land cost for relocating the people would be borne by the state government. She has also demanded allocation of an additional one lakh houses under the Indira Awaas Yojana to provide housing for the rain-affected people in other areas.
