The Finance Minister has underlined the need to make banking facilities accessible to the rural areas.Mr.Pranab Mukherjee said that this is necessary for inclusive growth. He said that less than 40 per cent of the facilities are at present available in these areas. He was speaking at a function to celebrate platinum jubilee of the Bank of Maharashtra in New Delhi today.Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said that the Indian economy which is expected to achieve 8.5 per cent growth this fiscal is projected to grow by nine per cent from the next financial year. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for Information Technology Sachin Pilot said that mobile banking will become a reality in the country and the government will be able to reach out to the sections of society which are lacking in banking facilities. He said that 40 per cent of the 65 crore people using mobile phones do not have bank accounts at present.
