FM to unveil Union Budget for 2012-13 on March 16th

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will unveil the Union Budget for 2012-13 on March 16th in the Lok Sabha. Talking to reporters after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) in New Delhi on Tuesday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said the Rail budget will be presented on March 14th and the Economic Survey will be tabled on the 15th.

The two phase budget session will begin on the 12th of March with President Pratibha Devisingh Patil addressing the joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament. Mr Bansal said, the first phase of the budget session will continue up to March 30th and the second part of the budget session will be held from April 24th to May 22nd.

Our Correspondent reports, the budget session, which generally starts in the third week of February, has been delayed this time due to the ongoing Assembly elections in five states. The model code of conduct is in force till March 9th when the election process would be completed.
