Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said that he is concerned over the spread of Left-Wing Extremism in some of the more backward areas of the economy. Calling Naxalism the “biggest threat” to peace and security in the country, Mr Mukherjee asked the CRPF to handle the situation with sensitivity. Addressing the 71st annual parade of the CRPF in New Delhi on Tuesday, he said Government is committed to make all the necessary facilities available to the para-military forces to achieve their professional targets. Lauding the role of CRPF in curbing Naxaslism and terrorism, Mr.Mukherjee said that its role has been pivotal in countering insurgency in the North-eastern region of the country.
