FM promises adequate funds for women & child development

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has assured to provide adequate financial support to all schemes aimed for Women and Child Development in the country.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the Vatsalya Mela in New Delhi, Mr Mukherjee said that there will be no dearth of funds for such schemes.
Expressing concern over the decline in the child-sex ratio in the 2011 census, Mr Mukherjee stressed the need to completely eradicate female foeticide.

He said that it is a gross violation of fundamental Human Rights and Right to Life. Elaborating the significant contribution made by female population in the nation's growth over the years, Mr Mukherjee said that there should be no discrimination and women must have equal access to all opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath said that education is the greatest empowering tool for women. Mrs Tirath said that her Ministry is also working on several schemes for greater empowerment of females in the country.
