Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will review the performance of public sector banks in a meeting tomorrow in New Delhi. The major thrust areas of review will be priority sector lending, quarter-2 results, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and insurance and pension schemes. During the meeting, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Entreprises will discuss issues related to MSME financing while Ministry of New and Renewable Energy will discuss status of commitment given by Banks for funding of Renewable energy projects in the next five years. In the meeting, Ministry of Food Processing will discuss utilization of special fund of 2 thousand crore rupees to provide affordable credit to Mega Food parks and food processing units. Among other things, implementation of revival, reform and restructuring package for handloom sector, institutional credit to sericulture and self help group credit linkage plan will also be discussed.Mr Jaitley is also expected to review the banking sector's bad loan situation and the extent of lending rate cuts undertaken by public sector banks. The meeting will be attended among others by officials of various Ministries, Senior officials of Reserve Bank of India and Chairmen and Managing Directors of Public Sector Banks.
