FM holds Pre Budget consultations

The Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukhejee is holding Pre Budget discussions with captains of Industry and representatives of chambers of Commerce today as a part of the Pre Budget consultations. Mukherjee held discussions with all stake holders in the agriculture and other allied sectors earlier and expressed hope that the farm sector growth will touch six percent. He is scheduled to meet the economists and other policy makers on Thursday, apart from trade union leaders later. AIR correspondent reports that the challenge is to maintain the tempo of growth and at the same time tame the rising inflation. Government has been maintaining that the GDP growth is expected to be in the double digit in the next fiscal and the headline inflation to be brought around 6.5 percent.
