FM expresses concern over 9.41% food inflation raise

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has expressed concern over rising prices of vegetables, fruits and milk. Talking to media persons in New Delhi today, Mr. Mukherjee said that rise in inflation is definitely a matter of concern and measures will be taken to bring it down to moderate level. Reacting over inflation going up marginally to 9.41 % for the week ended September 24, the Minister said he has been in constant touch with the Reserve Bank of India on the issue.The data released by the Commerce Ministry today showed food inflation going up marginally to 9.41 % from 9.13 % in the previous week.As per data fruit prices went up by 11.72 per cent, milk by 10.35 % and eggs, meat and fish by 10.33 %. Cereals became dearer by 4.57 % and pulses were up 7.54 % on an annual basis during the seven-day period.
