The Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee has asked the Indian industry to give specific suggestions to the government for re-energising the Indian economy. Speaking at the meeting with top industrialists in New Delhi yesterday, Mr. Mukherjee said, the journey on the road of reforms will continue. He said, weekening of business sentiment is partly due to an uncertain global environment and party due to rising cost of domestic credit, but the fundamentals of the economy remain strong. He said, the cynicism regarding lack of movement on policies and institutional process is based more on perception than facts.Corporate leaders expressed satisfaction at the interaction. They said, it will go a long way in building the momentum needed to catalyze economic growth. They pointed out that if there was a trust deficit it had been dispelled.Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said, the tight monetary policy has been necessitated because of the continuing challenge posed by inflationary pressure. He expressed confidence that important financial sector legislations would be passed in the current Monsoon Session of Parliament to carry forward the reform agenda.
