The first Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will be held in Beijing today.<br/><br/>Governors and representatives from the Bank's 57 founding signatories, along with invited observers from international partners, will participate in the two day meeting.<br/><br/>Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely is in Beijing to participate in the meeting.<br/><br/>The theme of the meeting is the Partnership for Infrastructure Development.<br/><br/>The meeting will connect finance and development professionals to exchange ideas on Asian infrastructure development and regional connectivity.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has 57 member countries like South Africa, Australia, United Kingdom and Germany among others.<br/><br/>The world's two biggest economies United States and Japan are not a part of it. Finance minister Arun Jaitely who is in China to attend the meeting said on Friday, that India wants to attract manufacturing investment following its latest market-opening initiatives.<br/><br/>He said New Delhi is looking to the AIIB as a possible source of financing for a backlog of infrastructure projects. India is the bank's second-largest shareholder after China.
