FM appeal banks to make Direct Benefit Transfer scheme successful

The Finance Minister, Mr. P.Chidambaram has appealed to the banks to take the responsibility of making the revolutionary Direct Benefit Transfer scheme a success. He said the scheme beginning on 1st January will cover all the villages by the end of next year.

Inaugurating the 1000th branch of State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur in Jaipur today the Finance Minister urged the people to start demanding banking services as their right. Banks should also give top priority to uplift the poor and improve their status.

Speaking on the occasion the Minister of State for Finance Mr. Namonarayan Meena said that under Swabhiman scheme 45000 bank branches are being opened in the villages with a population between 1600 and 2000. The Chief Minister, Mr. Ashok Gehlot also addressed the function.
