Flying out of Delhi will become cheaper from today, with the development fee charged by the operator of IGI airport being reduced by 100 rupees for domestic and by 700 rupees for international passengers. The decision of GMR-led Delhi International Airport Limited, DIAL to slash the charges followed a directive by Airports Economic Regulatory Authority, AERA for charging 100 rupees for domestic and 600 rupees for international passenger from January one. Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh had earlier directed the DIAL and Mumbai International Airport Limited to abolish development fee at the two airports from 1st of January.Following this, the DIAL moved to AERA, which decided to slash the rate. The new rate will remain effective till April 2016. Till yesterday, Development Fee being charged at Delhi airport was 200 rupees for domestic and 1,300 rupees for international passengers.
