Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has warned the fly-by-night colleges offering bachelors and Diploma courses in teachers education of closure if they continue as mere teaching shops distributing certificates.<br/><br/>Addressing the Southern Regional Workshop on Innovation and Best Practices in School Education in Bengaluru today, he said that the Department had issued show cause notices to nearly 6500 such institutions and half of them had already responded. The government would take strict action against those who did not comply with providing quality teachers' education. <br/><br/>The Minister said that the government would soon introduce a legislation in the Parliament to allow detention of students in the 5th and 8th standards if they were not upto the mark in their education. He said, a cabinet note on this was currently under circulation and it would be placed before the Cabinet before the bill was introduced in Parliament.<br/><br/>The Minister said that the country had now a good spread of schools, and the government would make all efforts to enhance the quality of education which not only empowers the people of the country, but also enhances their capability.
