Floods inundate new areas in Bihar

In Uttar Pradesh, the flood situation remains grim in western, Terai and eastern districts. The river Rapti and Ghaghra rivers are rising all along its course. Ghaghra is above the danger mark in Barabanki, Faizabad and Ballia while the river Rapti is flowing above the danger mark in Gorakhpur. The rain has slackened in the eastern UP but the flood continues to play havoc in all the affected areas. Many link roads in Faizabad, Basti and Siddharthanagar are waterlogged disrupting the normal traffic. The rail traffic on Gonda – Mailani rail route has been restored this evening. More from our correspondent:Ghaghra is flowing 90 centimetres above the danger mark at Vikramjot in Basti. Panchkosi and Chaudahkosi parikrama marg has been flooded. The district administration has issued warning to the villagers to vacate 26 villages in Basti. One hundred and six villages have become affected in Basti district. Rescue is going on in these villages. The current flood fury is largely due to heavy inflow of water from mountains. According to central water commission, river Rapti and Ghaghra will continue their rising trend during next 24 hours.
