In Pakistan, 209 people have been killed in Sindh province in floods and over five million had been affected. This was stated by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) today in a briefing to the special flood relief committee formed by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani. During the briefing, NDMA revealed that 1.7 million acres of crops had been destroyed in the floods. Speaking to the media, NDMA chairman Dr Zaffar Iqbal Qadir said that immediate relief was required in flood affected areas and China had announced 4.7 million dollar in relief.
