The United Nations says heavy rains in Chad have caused severe flooding, destroying crops and leaving nearly seventy thousand people homeless. The UN office in Chad said almost thirty thousand hectares of crops have been lost and that figure might rise. The charity Oxfam reports that the flooding has already caused severe malnutrition in some areas.
