Floods devastate 28 districts of UP

In Uttar Pradesh about 28 districts are affected with flood in eastern, western and terai regions of the state. These districts are still reeling under flood due to incessant rains and discharge of water from different barrages but situation is now stable at most of the places.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports about 50 villages in Saharanpur districts are surrounded in current spell flood in river Yamuna after release of 6 lakhs cusecs of water from HathiniKund barrage in Haryana. Flood in river Yamuna has also affected many villages in Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat and Ghaziabad districts. Several villages in these districts are disconnected with district headquarter and standing crop in thousand acres of land is destroyed. Flood water of river Ganga has affected many villages in Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bijnore, Jyotiba Phule Nagar and Ghaziabad districts in west while Ballia, Ghazipur, Kanpur Dehat and Mirzapur districts in eastern region. In Siddhartnagar district flood water in Budhi Gandak inundated more than 150 villages. In Gonda district about 200 villages are still affected with flood in river Ghaghra. In flood affected districts thousands of people have been shifted at relief camps and safe places and hundreds of boats are engaged in operation for rescue works. Medical teams have been alerted to be on alert so as to prevent the outbreak of any epidemic in districts where flood water has started receding.
