In Bihar, standing crops spread over seven lakh fifty thousand hectares in 20 districts have been destroyed due to floods.<br />'' <br />''Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar told AIR that a compensation of thirty thousand five hundred rupees per hectare compensation will be given to farmers in the flood-ravaged areas. Compensation will be given to those farmers whose 33 per cent crops were destroyed in devastating floods.<br />'' <br />''Maximum crops have been damaged in Muzaffarpur, East Champaran and Darbhanga districts of the state. Standing crops paddy and maize have been destroyed in these districts.The Agriculture Minister said, free seeds of alternative crops will be distributed among farmers in the flood-affected areas.<br />'' <br />''Meanwhile, over 83 lakh 50 thousand people spread over 1,333 Panchayats of 16 districts are reeling under the impact of floods. In all, 38 people have lost their lives in flood-related incidents in the last 24 hours. Twenty one teams of NDRF and SDRF are carrying out relief and rescue operations. Over Five lakh 50 thousand people have been evacuated so far and five thousand people have taken shelter in relief camps.
