In China, rain-triggered flooding and landslides have left 105 people dead and 63 missing over the past 10 days. According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, central China's Hunan and Hubei provinces are among the worst hit areas. It said, 39 people were killed in Hunan, while in neighboring Hubei province, rain-triggered disaster have left 29 people dead and 10 others missing. The ministry said, heavy floods left more than 200 children stranded at the Matou Primary School in Hubei, who had to be moved to safety until the flood receded. The authorities have launched an emergency response in anticipation of more downpours in central and southern China over the next few days. Relief-supply reserve stations in 11 provinces and seven cities have been set up to prepare for the expected downpours.
