The Uttar Pradesh Government has released additional Rs 3 crore each for relief and rescue operations at badly flood-hit Bijnore, Badaun and Shahjahanpur districts. Major rivers, including the Ganga, Ramganga, Yamuna, Ghaghra, Sharda and Kosi, were flowing above the danger level mark at several places. Nearly 400 people are killed in the state during current spell of flood. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports flood situation has again worsened in western and Terai districts after heavy release of water from different barrages, including Hathinikund, Narora, and Banbasa. In Moradabad, one lakh people have been shifted to safer places while in Bijnore 35,000 people are staying at 84 relief camps. Almost 60,000 people were moved to the relief centres in Rampur. In Bareilly, 3,083 houses in 525 villages were damaged as Ram Ganga river was in rising trend. Meanwhile, in Haryana, the flood situation is improving continuously. The flood water has started receding in submerged villages of Karnal, Panipat, Palwal and other districts. In Yamuna Nagar, breach on Belgarh bandh has been filled with mud bags. The right side downstream embankment of Tajewala headworks has further been damaged but there is no spilling due to low level of water. Ring bandh constructed by Irrigation Department along the damaged embankment is being strengthened to take care of more discharge in river.
