In Assam, hundreds of villages are still reeling under flood waters particularly in Goalpara and Barpeta district. Flood waters today submerged another 15 villages at Mandia in Barpeta. Around 50 percent residential area of the Barpeta town are reeling under water.In Goalpara, district administration has intensified relief and rescue works as water submerged 43 thousand families of 216 villages. Flood waters also submerged around 80 percent of Kaziranga National Park.Official sources said that two rhinos and a few deers have drowned. Park authorities’ have shifted many animals to safer places. Central Water Commission however said that the Brahmaputra and a few of its tributaries have shown a falling trend.
