In Bihar, over two lakh population have been hit by floods in Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi districts due to breach in Lakhandei embankment. AIR Patna correspondent reports that a 200 feet wide breach took place at Basghatta village under Katra block of Muzaffarpur district of the state. The river Gandak was also posing a serious threat to the newly constructed Saran embankment at Semaria in Gopalganj district. The water level of Kosi is also rising, threatening its eastern embankment. Low lying areas of the flood affected districts have been flooded. Flood affected people have taken shelter at higher places.According to the Central Water Commission, all major rivers in the state are maintaining rising trend due to torrential rain in Nepal and their catchment areas across the state. Rivers like the Ganga, Kamla Balan, Bagmati and Adhwara are flowing above danger marks. Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said that the state government is fully geared to face any eventuality.
