Flood water kills 34 people in Bolivia

In Bolivia, at least thirty four people have been killed when flood waters swept away a passenger bus and a truck. The authorities reported on Sunday that the incident happened late Friday near the town of Pampahuasi, on the banks of the Mollepunku River, southeast of Bolivia's capital La Paz. The police chief of Chuquisaca region said 39 people were on the bus. Two people were in the truck's cabin, and it is unclear if the vehicle had any other passengers. The numbers suggest that the death toll could rise in the coming days as bodies wash up on the river banks. Heavy rains have flooded several areas Bolivia, including Chuquisaca and the outskirts of La Paz, where mud slides washed away dozens of houses last week. More flooding is expected as forecasters predict more rain.
