In Assam, the over all flood situation in the Karimganj district of Barak Valley has deteriorated further following submergence of more new areas by the surging flood waters of Singla, Longai and Kushiara rivers. <br/><br/>The district administration has alerted the Border Security Forces (BSF) to keep in ready to assist the administration in rescue and relief works. 63 country boats have been pressed into service in relief and rescue operations by the district administration in the flood affected areas. <br/><br/>Over two lakh ten thousand people in the district in over three hundred villages of the district have been affected by this year’s first wave of flood in the valley. Vehicular movement on Assam-Agartala national highway has been disrupted as the flood water has submerged a portion of the highway at Patherkandi area of the district.<br/>
