In Assam, flood situation worsened on Wednesday, particularly in Dhemaji and Jorhat districts. Rising water of the Brahmaputra washed away around 180 villages today, besides posing a threat to the largest river island of the world, Majuli, in Jorhat district. In Dhemaji district, breaches in embankments flooded 300 villages, leaving lakhs of people homeless. At least 10 people swept away in Sivsagar, Kamrup and Jorhat districts. On the other hand, four passenger trains with around two thousand passengers are stranded in Dima Hasao district for consecutive second day on Wednesday following Tuesday's landslides.
