In Assam, overall flood situation continues to be grim as rising water of the river Brahmaputra and its tributaries submerged new areas. So far, lakhs of people of 700 villages are reeling under water. The raging water swept away 3 people today.Moreover, 4 people were killed and another 6 injured in landslide in Guwahati and Dima Hasao.Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi instructed his ministerial colleagues to monitor the relief and rescue works in their concerned district. Almost all the districts of Brahmaputra valley affected in the recent wave of flood. Chief Minister instructed the district administration to take necessary arrangements to shift the people from vulnerable areas to safer places as most of the rivers are flowing above danger level. He also directed the Water Resources Department to take all possible steps to ensure protection of embankments. District administrations have set up 55 relief camps .Medical teams are also engaged to prevent water borne diseases. Army, National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force are being deployed in five districts. 7 helicopters and machine boats were called in for relief and rescue works.
