In Assam, the flood situation has further worsened today in three districts of Barak Valley with inundation of more new areas by the flood water. Over 9 lakh people have been affected as major rivers in the valley are flowing above the danger mark. <br/><br/>Several schools and educational institutions of the valley have cancelled its half yearly examinations as flood affected people have taken shelter in these buildings. The flood water has entered the Doordarshan Kendra complex in Silchar located in Tarapur Malinibil area of the city. However, programmes are being telecast without any break. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the recurring floods in the valley has disrupted the normal life of the people of the valley.<br/><br/>The constant upward mobility of the river bed caused by the increasing layers of the silt emanating from cutting of hills, land erosion, widespread deforestation in the catchment areas and along river sides are largely responsible for the frequent flood and rendering floods more devastating.
