The flood situation in Karimganj district of Barak Valley of Assam is still alarming following inundation of more new areas of Karimganj town on Wednesday morning. <br/><br/>The Deputy Commissioner in charge of Karimganj District, A.Nanda Babu Singh told AIR Silchar Correspondent, L T K Singh that the flood situation in the district is really alarming due to the overflowing of Kushiara River at Kalibarighat of Karimganj town this morning. <br/><br/>He said that though the water resources department has been able to plug the breach by putting sand bags, danger is still looming as Kushiara River is rising alarmingly. The district administration has alerted the people of the town by means of miking and through SMS by mobile phones. <br/><br/>People living in low-lying areas of the town have been evacuated to safer places as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, a team of the National Disaster Response Force from Guwahati has already reached Karimganj to assist the district administration in relief and rescue works.<br/>
