Flood situation remains unchanged in Assam

In Assam, the flood situation in Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sonitpur, Sivsagar, Jorhat and Barpeta districts remains unchanged. Assam State Disaster Response and Information Centre said Wednesday evening that a total of 513 villages have been affected by flood in last 24 hours. Flood also affected over 3 lakh 34 thousand people in these districts. The district administrations have intensified the relief works mostly in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur districts. District administration of Lakhimpur has set up 250 relief camps while in Dhemaji 2 numbers of camp opened at Jonai. A total of around 1 lakh 39 thousand people are taking shelter in the camps. District authorities distributed relief items like rice, salt, dal, tarpuline and hand tubewell.
