Flood situation remains grim in Uttar Pradesh. The State government says that 25 districts are flood affected and thousands of hectares of agricultural land has submerged in water. Rising water levels of Ghaghara, Saryu, Ganga, Ramganga, Yamuna and sharda rivers caused immense loss of lives and property. According to Met department, different regions of the state received good rain during the last two days. Overflowing rivers in different regions are still the main cause of water-logging in hundreds of villages and throw life out of gear for sixteen lakh people in Uttar Pradesh. However The central water commission has said that Ramganga is now flowing above the danger level in Shahjhanpur .Saryu river is flowing more than one meter above the danger mark in Gonda and Ayodhya. And Ghaghara is still above the danger mark in Barabanki, and in Ballia.More than hundred villages are flooded in Gonda district for last many days. Ganga is also above the danger mark in five districts According to state government relief works are being carried out in all flood affected districts. Simultaneously, relief control rooms are operative round the clock. The state government says that 98 people have lost their lives in this month only. In West Bengal, four flood related deaths have been reported from Nadia and Burdwan over the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 62. According to official sources, flood situation in north Bengal is likely to deteriorate as heavy to very heavy rains have been predicted in next 24 hours. AIR Correspondent reports that over 30 lakh people have been affected during the current spell of flood in the state. The West Bengal government has released relief assistance to the tune of 31 crore rupees to deal with the situation. In Bihar the flood situation has aggravated following heavy rains in catchment areas of various rivers.AIR Patna correspondent reports that water level of Ganga,Mahananda,Kosi, Gandak and Bagmati is steadily increasing and is above danger mark.The state government has sounded high alert in flood affected districts of the state.The District Magistrates of East and West Champaran, Gopalganj and Muzaffarpur have been instructed to make all necessary preparations to face any eventuality. They have also been instructed to alert people living between embankments and rivers,as they could be affected by even a slight increase in the water level of rivers.The flood situation in Katihar district has turned grim with seventy thousand people have been displaced in two worst hit Manihari and Amadabad blocks .Flood water is flowing at several places on National Highway NH-31 in Bhagalpur district of the state.
