Flood situation remains grim in UP as rivers still in spate

The flood situation remains grim in various parts of Uttar Pradesh. Heavy to medium rainfall occurred on Sunday afternoon in many eastern districts. The rivers Ghaghra, Rapti and Ganga are still in spate due to release of water from various barrages. AIR correspondent says that over 500 villages are still marooned while more than three thousand villages in over 27 districts are flood affected.AIR correspondent reports, the road communication on many National and state highways are still disrupted as the flood water is overflowing. As many as two hundred and sixteen relief camps have been set up where food and essential items are being provided to the displaced people. Ganga has started receding at a few places and road communication is partially restored on National Highway 24. The displaced people are facing multi-pronged problems of power supply, safe drinking water and sanitation.
