Flood situation remains grim in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, the flood situation remains grim in several districts. According to reports around 150 people have lost lives in rain and flood related incidents during current flood fury. Farrukhabad, Barabanki, Gonda, and Hardoi remained worst affected. Ninety villages in Barabanki and seventy villages in Gonda are still flood affected. Our Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the National Disaster Management team has taken up the task of evacuating the people from flood affected areas in Barabanki.AIR correspondent Salman Haider reports from Gorakhpur that the team of National Disaster Management is conducting the rescue and relief operation in the villages of Barabanki. The flood water has spread in 15 Kms area after the in Elgin-Charsari embankment. The flood affected people are being sheltered in nearby villages. One hundred and sixty villages in three tehsils of Farrukhabad have become affected. Fifteen villages in Hardoi are flooded due to spate in Ganga and Ramganga rivers. The rivers in eastern UP continue their falling trend but more than 200 villages are still flooded in Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar and Deoria. Several villages of Ballia and Ghazipur have come under the grip of raging Ganga river.
