In Uttar Pradesh, the flood situation remains grim in Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjehanpur and Mathura as the rivers flowing in the area are still in spate despite slackening of rain. AIR correspondent quoting central water commission officials reports that the river Ghaghra and Sharda are on rise in Lakhimpur Kheri. Ganga and Ramganganga in Shahjehanpur and Yamuna in Mathura-Vrindvan area. Three villages in Rampur have been inundated in Shahjehanpur. The flood situation in Gonda district is gradually improving as the water of Ghaghra has gone below the danger mark in the district.Rescue and relief operations are in full swing in the affected areas. Our correspondent adds that scattered rain has occurred today in the eastern districts.
