In Uttar Pradesh, the flood situation remains grim in the about 300 hundred marooned villages. A population of about 3 Lakhs is still stranded in flood water. The relief operation is speeded up as Provincial Armed Constabulary is helping out the stranded people with boats and motor boats.Army steamers have been deployed in Farrukhabad to rescue people from marooned areas. In eastern UP, most of the rivers have become steady but are still above danger mark at many places. Our Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the situation is still grave in Gonda and Basti.
